Education Awards

1. Must be a resident of the State of Georgia, and if not a U.S. citizen, provide proof of legal alien status.
2. Seeking post-secondary schooling; both traditional and non-traditional applicants will be considered.
3. A fully completed scholarship application and supporting materials (essay, referenced, and official transcripts) must be received on or before May 7th, 2007.
4. Typewritten essay, not to exceed two pages in length. Essay should address personal goals, community involvement, work experience, educational history, special awards or honors, and any other information applicant would like to share.
5. Official transcripts from high school and any post-secondary institutions attended must be submitted (certified copy is not necessary). If you cannot provide transcripts, please explain.
6. Three character references, written by the referring person (example: 1 teacher, 1 counselor, 1 friend, pastor, rabbi, or other school personnel).
7. Minimum grade point average based on 4.0 scale.
8. Applicants must apply each award year; applications will not be carried forward.
9. Education award(s) may be used for: tuition and fees, books and class-related supplies, dorm/meals.
10. Check will be made payable to education institution for the account of the education award recipient.
11. Education award(s) will not be given to anyone related in any way to a member of the ABWA Lake Lanier Charter Chapter.
12. Award(s) must be used within the current academic year. If not used, the award(s) will be forfeited without prior approval of ABWA Education Committee.

• Complete application - incomplete applications will not be considered.
• GPA (based on 4.0 scale)
• Essay graded on scale of 1-5
• Involvement in Activities / Employment graded on scale of 1-5
• References graded on scale of 1-5
• Amount and number of awards will be determined by ABWA funds available.
